Every lesson is built from short phrases recorded by people who grew up where they’re spoken. You listen, repeat, and compare, a few seconds at a time.

  1. 1Listen

Hear it from someone who grew up there.

Every phrase is recorded by a speaker from the place it belongs to. You hear the real tone, speed and accent, not a studio voice reading a textbook.

  2. 2Repeat

Say it back while it’s still in your ear.

Tap and repeat straight away. Short loops and many repetitions, which is how people actually pick up a language.

  3. 3Compare

    See exactly where you drift.

Your voice is laid over the speaker’s. Feedback points to the syllable, tone or rhythm that’s off, so the next try lands closer.

The same Mandarin sounds different in Beijing and Chongqing. Choose an accent, then watch a learner’s attempt line up with the speaker’s, syllable by syllable.

The demo is illustrative. Scores show how feedback is presented, not measured results.

Mandarin. Each phrase is Mandarin as it’s actually spoken in that city, with the local accent and the everyday words people use there. A few greetings, like 侬好 in Shanghai or 唔该 in Guangzhou, come from the local language, and the course says so when they do.

It’s designed for learners who know some Mandarin and want to sound natural. Every phrase shows pinyin and its meaning, so newer learners can follow along too.

You record yourself repeating the phrase. The app lays your voice over the speaker’s and points to the syllable, tone or rhythm that’s off, so the next try lands closer.

The course is in staged beta now, with a public release planned for 2026. Join the waitlist and we’ll let you know when a place opens.

Pricing will be announced at launch.

Mimesis Mandarin is built by Mimesis Holdings, a software company in Singapore. Voices are recorded and produced by our team in Chongqing and Shanghai.
